BEYOND INDIGNANT

by Ivan Unwin

SUNDAY JUNE 3RD - MONDAY OCTOBER 15TH
@ CONSPIRACY CULTURE

Conspiracy Culture Gallery is proud to present "BEYOND INDIGNANT," an exhibition of paintings by artist Ivan Unwin. Works such as "den of thieves", "we the people" and "our gorgeous leader" are both beautifully executed and make strong and timely statements about the social and political systems ruling the world. In this series of paintings, Unwin depicts dark, disturbing visions about life, death, religion, war, & politics; visions that will no doubt provoke viewers to see that like Unwin's exhibit title beyond indignant is an appropriate response to the ignorance, repression & violence operating in the world today.

Ivan Unwin
Artist Biography

Born in England 1960, educated with the anthemic music of punk music ringing in my ears and the eternal images of the Queen with a safety pin through her mouth - art school followed, during the 1980s I was making sculptural performance based art films, released via Factory Records / Ikon as "Flickering Shadows" 3 further film productions followed - "toxic" , "septik kz" and finally "eclipse" occupying me through the 1990s but with the constant frustration of budget constraints I stopped my film making. I became employable in the music video & film industry for 15 years creatively intoxicated. I had started to paint again in 2000 initially landscape. Moved to Canada 2006, my wife's homeland. While living a 24hr life, summer of 2008 trying to stop our German Shepard self mutilating himself, the triptych "evil" was created, kicking open the doors to the works that have followed with direct social political narratives.
